By leveraging the GCF certification framework, operators and communication service providers can optimize device introduction and maintenance, improve network performance, and foster a consistent, high-quality experience for their customers. GCF membership also provides access to technical expertise, industry collaboration opportunities, and a pathway to stay ahead of emerging technologies and standards.

Operators and Communication Service providers can join GCF as:

• Operator (full membership)
• Associate Operator
• Virtual Operator (MVNO)
• Associate MVNO
• Mission Critical Communications Operator (MCCO)

These categories accommodate Commercial Operators, IoT Network Operators, Private Network Operators, Non-Terrestrial Operators and any other Communication Service Providers working with 3GPP Standards-based technologies.

Companies involved in designing, developing or manufacturing consumer devices, wireless modules, IoT devices, automotive devices and Mission critical devices and aiming certify these products should select the Manufacturer program that best aligns with their needs. These companies can join GCF as:

• Manufacturer (full membership)
• Associate Manufacturer I (Personal Devices)
• Associate Manufacturers II (Connected Devices)

A GCF manufacturer membership is required to certify devices. Also, GCF Manufacturer Members can include Remote SIM Provisioning for eSIM and/or oneM2M compliance as part of the standard GCF certification process for a product. 

Companies with an Associate Manufacturer I (AMM I) membership can certify any product, including MCX Client Platforms, except wireless modules, platforms or IoT Chipsets. AMM I manufacturers have different membership benefits than full manufacturer members.

Certification of 3GPP-based Mission Critical Services Clients is possible with a Full Manufacturer or Associate Manufacturer I membership.

Companies with an Associate Manufacturer II (AMM II) membership can certify a product where the 3GPP functionality is not the primary function, that embeds a GCF certified module or that references a GCF certified platform (including a Mission Critical Services Client or Client Platform). This category is not suitable to certify smartphones, feature phones, wireless modules, platforms or IoT Chipsets.

Upon certain conditions, Remote SIM provisioning for Consumer eSIM and OneM2M compliance can also be certified as standalone features, without the need of a GCF Manufacturer membership.

Test laboratories and Test solution providers (commonly referred as Test Equipment Manufacturers or Test Platform vendors) are essential for the execution of GCF certification programmes.

These companies can join GCF with an Observer membership.

By demonstrating compliance with quality, tools and expertise requirements defined by GCF, Test Laboratories can become Recognized Test Organizations (RTOs) and Asessment Capable Entities (ACEs) in order to provide GCF Certification Services.

Testing conformance of products require validated Test platforms from Test solution providers holding a valid observer membership.

Any other company or institution who is not an Operator, Communication Service Provider, Device or Application vendor, Test facility or Test solutions provider, but have a legitimate interest in GCF Certification can join GCF with an Observer membership.

Industry alliances, industry associations and Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) interested in working together with GCF on certification of products based on standards-based technologies in the mobile and IoT spaces are welcome to become GCF partners.

GCF collaborates actively with more than 15 partners on development and certification of different technologies (3GPP, GSMA, ETSI, TTA, oneM2M, CTIA Certification, TCCA, 5GAA, 5G-ACIA, NFC Forum, 450MHz Alliance, IoT M2M Council, GSOA, GlobalPlatform…)
